During Hard Times

Hey everybody!  Welcome back to Morning Thrive!  We've been talking about living the obedient life all week long, and we've been looking at Jesus' example. He was obedient to come to earth, He was obedient to the authorities over Him here, and here's another one: He was obedient even when things are hard. Towards the end of His life, Jesus knew that He was going to give His life as a sacrifice for you and for me. He went to a place called Gethsemane, which literally means 'olive press', or a place of great pressure, a place where the whole weight of the sin of the world was on Him in Gethsemane, and He cried out to His Father, "Father, if there's any other way, let this cup pass from Me. Nevertheless, not my will, but Your will be done." It was there in Gethsemane that Jesus really won the victory. It was there He made the final decision to be obedient to the Father and go to the cross, or be disobedient and slip over the side of the Mount of Olives and disappear into the wilderness. He was that close to disobedience, and yet He chose to be obedient, even when He knew it was going to be hard. He was obedient, Phillipians 2 says, "even to the point of death." Even death on a cross. Are you obedient, even when things are hard? You may be in a difficult marriage and things are hard, but you're being obedient to stay with it and keep working. You may be obedient to trust God in a difficult work environment, but you're being obedient to do what God tells you to do. Or maybe it's just difficult to serve God in some area where it's pressure filled, but you're being obedient to that. Be obedient to God, even when it's difficult, because God will reward you, God will use you for a greater cause. Why don't you come on Sunday and let's worship God together? And let's choose to live obedient lives together. If you're not close to First Colleyville, go to a Bible-teaching church, if you are close to Colleyville, come on Sunday we'd love to see you then! Have a great weekend.
