Morning Thrive - "Good Friday"
Hey everybody! Welcome back to Morning Thrive! We’ve been looking at the last week of Jesus’ life during this Holy Week, and today is Good Friday. Christians all over the world are celebrating, thinking and commemorating the death of Jesus today. People often ask why it is called Good Friday, because it certainly wasn’t good for Jesus. You’re right; this particular Friday was not good for Jesus, but it was good for us. What Jesus did on the cross was to give Himself as an atoning sacrifice for your sin and for mine, and because of what Jesus did on this Friday, we can be forgiven. We can be made new. We can have heaven opened up to us. After Jesus’ death the women came to the tomb to finish preparations on a Sunday morning. What they found was an angel, and the angel said, Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here for He has risen just as He said! The grave didn’t have the last word. The critics didn’t have the last word. The circumstances didn’t have the last word. Hopelessness didn’t have the last word. Resurrection, life and hope had the last word! That’s what I want you to remember this Good Friday. We have hope and we have life because of what Jesus Christ has done for us. Listen, come celebrate Easter with us! Come to First Colleyville; 8:30, 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 are our services. Let’s celebrate the risen hope that we have in Him! I’ll see you on Sunday!
