Morning Thrive - "Pray"

Written by Pastor Craig Etheredge  |  Found in: Morning Thrive

Hey everybody!  Welcome back to Morning Thrive!  We’re talking about how to survive under pressure.  We’ve said that we need a few godly people around us that can encourage, pray and be with us!  Jesus needed that, and so do we.  Another thing we need to do is pray.  You might be thinking, Duh, Craig!  Who doesn’t pray?  Let’s be honest; when you’re really under pressure, a lot of the time your mind is thinking about the pressure, the problem, the stress or the person, and you very seldom really actually pray about it.  You think about it.  It consumes your thoughts, but you never take those thoughts and direct them to God.  You have to take these worrisome thoughts, and then channel them upward to God in prayer.  That’s just what Jesus did.  Jesus went to the Garden of Gethsemane; He got away and He prayed.  In Matthew 26:39 it says, and going a little further, He fell on His face and He prayed.  Later on it says in Luke 22:44, and being in agony He prayed more earnestly, and His sweat became like great drops of blood falling to the ground.  Jesus prayed fervently.  He prayed earnestly.  He prayed honestly.  Listen, are you really taking these things to God in prayer?  Are you really saying, Lord, I don’t know how to handle this, and I’m going to cast my cares on You, because I know You care for me.  Right now, why don’t you get on your knees and say, God, I’m rolling the heavy weight of this pressure onto Your shoulders, because I can’t do it without You.
