“Selfless Leaders Are Praised”

Hey everybody! Welcome back to Morning Thrive. We’ve been talking about selfless leadership, and here’s the last thought I want to leave with you; selfless leaders are praised by those they lead. Everyone loves to follow a selfless leader. In Philippians 2, it says of Jesus, “Therefore God has exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every other name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” In other words, Jesus was exalted because He humbled himself, He was exalted because He sacrificed, He was exalted because He was obedient. The same is true in our own lives. If you humble yourself, sacrifice, and put others first, then people will exalt you, and people will follow you. I think about going to the Cowboys Stadium and seeing Tom Landry’s statue out there. There is a reason why the statue is there, because he exemplified humble, gracious, servant-like leadership. Let me ask you something. Are the people that you are leading exalting you? Are they thankful for you? Are they encouraging you? Are they saying, “Man, I wouldn’t want to work for any other boss, I wouldn’t want to work anywhere else, because I know that you care about me.” That’s what will happen if you’re a selfless leader. So why not ask God to make you a selfless leader, so that you can really lead like Jesus led. When you do, you will make all the difference in the world. Come to First Colleyville this weekend and let’s learn how to do that together, alright? I’ll see you then.
