“We is Better Than Me”

Hey everybody! Welcome back to Morning Thrive. We’re talking about axioms for life, these statements of truth that can help us live a full and healthy life. Here is another one, ”We is better than me.” That’s pretty simple and kind of fun to say! “We is better than me.” So, what does that mean? It means that our life is better when we live it together with someone else. Our life is better when we live it together with somebody else. We live in a culture where it’s all about me, me, me. We have a “Selfie” culture that says, “Look at me, please me, satisfy me, hire me, acknowledge me, and promoting myself and seeking “likeable” status and so forth. But joy and happiness come in relationships not about me, but in “we.” In fact, the Bible talks about that in Ecclesiastes 4. It says, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.” We live in a lonely culture, and loneliness is an epidemic. In fact, there are people that come to church and they don’t sit with anyone, they don’t know anyone, they just come and go completely isolated. That is not God’s best for you. You may be feeling lonely right now and what you need is a group of people around you that love you, encourage you and can help you. That’s why we believe in our church that group life is so important, because real transformation happens in the context of a group. Now listen, are you in a group like that? I’m so thankful for the people in my life that have come alongside me, put their arms around me, loved me, encouraged me and corrected me at times because they love me. That’s what real community looks like. “We is better than me.” So, why not reject isolation and chose community? Alright? Have a great day
